Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra’s debut concert Boundary X Freedom X Horizon presenting a dense musical conversation through the meeting of unique music by four veteran composers who unfold musical activities crossing over the boundary between traditional music and western one ranging from works with a motive of court music to electronics concerto and an in-depth musical interpretation and performance of Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra led by the composer-in-residence Kim Cheol-ho

Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra

Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra (head: Kim Cheol-ho) is the nation’s first traditional music orchestra founded with the purpose of the modernization, popularization and globalization of traditional music in 1965. It has exerted itself to seek for and play the role as an open art group which is able to share important spirits and values of Korean traditional arts through the creative succession of cultural heritage of humanity with the world and exchange culture and arts and inspirations of other genres and communicate with anyone, anytime, anywhere. It will create a new history of Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra to bridge the history of creative traditional music orchestra and make the tradition of the future through interpreting melodies containing Korean spirits in a modern way.
