Seoul Metropolitan Youth Traditional Music Orchestra, which is creating new music with the creative sensibility and challenging spirit of young musicians, consists of young performers under the age of 28 who are majoring in traditional music under the value of creating the most modern and global future of Korean music based on traditional Korean music. Founded in 2005 and started with the performance to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of sisterhood relations between Seoul and Mongolia, Seoul Metropolitan Youth Traditional Music Orchestra has made efforts to enhance opportunities for the general public to enjoy high quality culture through holding 53 regular concerts and more than 420 performances including ‘Seoul Week’ to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Seoul-Bangkok sisterhood alliance in Bangkok in 2016, the celebration for ‘Seoul Day’ in Hanoi and the event to mark the 40th anniversary of the Seoul-Brazil sisterhood alliance. The outstanding performance and excellence of up-and-coming artists has been demonstrated by its exceptional direction and outstanding performance shown in various awards, which is differentiated from existing orchestras.
