The theater company lives and breathes together with the contemporary period and the plays that citizens can live with.
It is a theatrical troupe that represents Korean theater with popular and novel plays.
The STC was founded in 1997 to help enjoy culture and art through plays. Aiming for ‘publicity’, ‘artistry’, and ‘popularity’, the troupe pursues ‘plays that are close to the citizens,’ ‘plays for the citizens,’ and ‘ plays with the citizens’, performs high-quality theoretical works, and runs programs for them.
The STC has performed before the audience the classics that have been re-interpreted from a modern perspective such as ‘People of Justice’, creative plays such as ‘Millions of Cities’, and the 'The Easy-To-Watch Series of Shakespeare’, running the theater classes for citizens. In addition, it is making various efforts to improve the environment for creativity and discover new artists.
The STC will keep communicating with the citizens and the art world, playing a role as a mediator for the development of theatre. Furthermore, it will work actively amid and with the audience, presenting new ways of stage performance.
