Pink – the sweetest shade of violence.
The stage is endlessly wiped and washed, yet somehow, the traces never fully disappear. In the repetition of these acts, hidden violence and oppression paradoxically seep in—softly, warmly. The more one tries to cover the stains, the deeper they sink. In this concealed space of quiet brutality, a familiar sensation creeps in slowly, yet menacingly.
Choreographer Kim Sung Hoon, known for portraying modern human portraits through works such as Pool and Jodong, delves into the themes of traces, transformation, and the indelible. Audiences find themselves asking: Isn’t everything we try so hard to erase and conceal only made more vivid? As gentle hues morph into an overwhelming, suffocating emotion, we redefine pink — not as a symbol of beauty, but of oppression and control.
Thus, this is not a mere sequence of violent imagery but a lingering reflection on the duality of what we perceive as beautiful. The more we try to erase, the deeper it stains; the more we cover, the more sharply it reveals itself — a story of inescapable traces.
