On the perilous relationship between individual and community
Kimchi and Chips, Simone Wierød <Collective Behavior>
Self and others, free volition and collective action, identity of the individual and homogeneity of the group... are issues that are confrontational yet coexist inevitably. These perilously tense relationships are illustrated through the characteristic visual effects of Kimchi and Chips and restrained choreography of Simone Wierød. Mirrors and lighting installed on the stage accentuate the chaos of the truth by irregularly copying the movements of the dancers and distorting the temporal space.
* Kimchi and Chips
A media arts studio housing Mi Mi Son, who majored in visual arts, and Elliot Woods, who majored in physics. Since its establishment in 2009, the studio has been experimenting with the relationship between reality and the virtual realm. It is striving to create new images that are neither real nor fiction by using diverse materials, techniques, and natural phenomena. The studio has presented large-scale media art installations in the past and is currently expanding into domains that transcend genre with its 'Collective Behaviour'.
* Simone Wierød
A Danish choreographer who treats body movements and choreography as an additional language and uses them as a means of communication to address controversial social issues. She is well known for expressions of the beauty of moderation and functionality through condensed movements, and is presently continuing her work in Copenhagen.
