Philip Colbert is known for his paintings inspired by world-famous works by Andy Warhol, Vincent van Gogh, and Pablo Picasso, among others, which convey a sense of excitement and familiarity using signs and symbols from commercial images such as Nike, Coca Cola, and Bitcoin. This exhibition is an opportunity to explore a mega pop art world where everything blends together beautifully in a fun and lively visual language that is unique to Colbert.
The lobster, which Colbert describes as his alter-ego and the main character in his world of creativity, is shown as a dream in an artistic virtual space, featured in famous paintings, and turned into a valiant mythical character.
Lobster Land is a virtual world of art created by Colbert using moving images to tell exciting stories of this lobster with a cactus-shaped home who goes to an art gallery, factory, bank, and so on.
