Founded in 1965 with the aim of "modernizing, popularizing, and globalizing Korean traditional music," the Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Orchestra is the Korea’s first traditional music orchestra. It has since played a pivotal role in the development of the Korean music industry through the creative succession of traditional music and the promotion of new creative music, in consistent pursuit of spirit and soul of Korea.
Every year, the Orchestra presents a variety of orchestral music and concertos, and gains popularity and contemporary characteristics by sharing the excellence of Korean traditional music with citizens through collaboration with various art genres and artists.
